King and Kudryavtseva win WTA trophies Strasbourg

Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva put in convincing performances at the at the Internationaux de Strasbourg and are getting into the winning rhythm before the main clay court event of the year. Vania beat the second seed Elena Vesnina in straight sets and later upset the crowd favorite Alize Cornet on her way to the semi finals in singles. Despite a third set tiebreaker defeat on Friday that kept her from joining Maria Sharapova in the final, Vania still managed to get a trophy at this tournament. Partnering with Cornet, she came out as a winner in a thrilling doubles final against the second seed team that included another L’Academie de Tennis player, Alla Kudryavtseva. King and Cornet won 3-6 6-4 10-7. Alla, who played alongside Anastasia Rodionova in Strasbourg, said she was happy with the level of her tennis and optimistic for the Roland Garros that starts next week in Paris.
