King and Kudryavtseva win WTA trophies Strasbourg

Vania King and Alla Kudryavtseva put in convincing performances at the at the Internationaux de Strasbourg and are getting into the winning rhythm before the main clay court event of the year. Vania beat the second seed Elena Vesnina in straight sets and later upset the crowd favorite Alize Cornet on her way to the semi finals in singles. Despite a third set tiebreaker defeat on Friday that kept her from joining Maria Sharapova in the final, Vania still managed to get a trophy at this tournament. Partnering with Cornet, she came out as a winner in a thrilling doubles final against the second seed team that included another L’Academie de Tennis player, Alla Kudryavtseva. King and Cornet won 3-6 6-4 10-7. Alla, who played alongside Anastasia Rodionova in Strasbourg, said she was happy with the level of her tennis and optimistic for the Roland Garros that starts next week in Paris.

L’Academie de Tennis is gearing up for Summer Camp 2010

L’Academie de Tennis is ready to launch its Summer Camp program on June 7! Tarik will personally oversee the court and fitness training on daily basis, guiding his coaches to bring the best out of every player. Through various teaching methods and advanced drills, L’Academie de Tennis coaches will work on improving each player’s strokes, footwork as well as their fitness and understanding of the game. Based on individual needs, professional instruction will incorporate technique, physical fitness, coordination, mental conditioning, and match strategy. Under close supervision, the emphasis of each day will vary to support the player’s holistic development.

For the US national players, L’Academie de Tennis Summer Camp 2010 can serve as an intensive preparation base before the Clay Court National Championships held nearby as well as other big tournaments throughout the summer.

Yuanfeng Li reaches the doubles final at the Daytona beach ITF

Yuanfeng Li and his partner Max Peara were trailing 6-1 in the deciding tiebreaker of their first round match at the 2010 Daytona ITF, but managed to close that gap and secure the victory 6-4, 4-6, 10-6. The team went on to win three more tough matches on their way to the final.

“This comeback in the first round inspired us a lot and we went on playing with full confidence.” – said Yuanfeng after the tournament. “It is of course somewhat disappointing that we did not perform the same way in the final, but it is my first tournament decider in a long time. I definitely learned my lessons and ready to work even harder in practice”

“Yuanfeng Li’s deserved this ITF trophy as a reflection of the hard work he’s done at L’Academie de Tennis in his 6 months here. He is extremely focused on developing his game and I certainly foresee more wins coming his way.” – was the remark from Tarik Benhabiles.
